Lunar rhythms are a big part of Ayurveda. The rhythms of nature–Circadian, Seasonal, Lunar and Tidal–influence our mind-body physiology…more than most of us are aware. Understanding our unique Ayurvedic make-up deepens the internal nature connection that we are intrinsically intertwined with. When we are synced to the influential external energies using the power of knowledge and ritual, the flow within remains centered and balanced…and the constrictions transform into a seductive dance.
We’ve all felt the masked waves of energetic forces that the planetary cycles can bring on–edgy, uneasy, heightened–and the Super Moon activity intensifies this magnetic pull even more due to the fact of it being closer in proximity–15% closer…and 30% brighter. Super Moons have also been known to literally “shake it up”–causing earthquakes, higher tides and shifts within Mother Nature.
Since the energies of the five Master Elements–Pancha Mahabhutas–are the foundation to living consciously with Ayurvedic awareness, it makes perfect sense that the Super Moon energy would carry some influential significance on how we think, feel, operate and express ourselves. Our bodies are made up of approximately 70% water, and with the lunar rhythms puppeteering the tidal strings, this movement organically opens us up to internalizing these same push and pull sensations.
Pittas and Kaphas are especially susceptible to the moons influence given the predominance of water within their constitutional make-ups. Like attracts like, so you may feel a gravitational calling to walk along bodies of water, increase your water intake, grab the ear buds and shuffle up some soothing water sounds, luxuriate in long baths, swim for exercise or indulge in a full moon dip…all healing. If you’re out of balance and not feeling the impulse to connect with water, then it’s time to think about creating the space to do so…and witness how it makes you feel when you do.
Since Vatas have a tendency to be on the “dryer and cooler” side, embracing the intake of water is a necessary ritual…just make sure to incorporate the warm–hot tea, warm liquids–and avoid the cool. If it is a spontaneous moonlight swim, have a warm towel and cozy style waiting for you to snuggle into afterwards. And again, hydrate, oil up and hydrate some more…especially during this dry seasonal time.
Now for the moon…
It’s illumination GO-TIME! Taurus is Earth loving and since Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus, it’s all about the sweetness of amour…love, beauty, sensuality, art and nature. It’s also about financial security. Take notice of YOU, love yourself, meet YOUR needs and see the beauty that lies within and around you. If your physical extended environment is in need of some eye candy adornment, now is the time to surround yourself with all things beautiful. Whatever turns you on, place it in clear viewing pleasure–art, color, flowers, candles, new throw pillows. Lean in the direction of making nourishing choices and take notice to what truly brings value in your life. Issues of worthiness and self-worth are also highlighted now. Pay attention and awaken.
With this past Mercury retrograde, there came with it some intense waves of muddy unclarity. Now that the fog has lifted, it’s time to see and nourish what’s working in your growth favor while simultaneously facing the shadows that lurk and prevent you from shining in your most favorable light. Let them go and shine on you crazy diamonds!
ALL DOSHAS:
Meditate. New Moons are about inviting and Full Moons are about releasing. Meditation will deliver clarity and assist you in both.
Process and release. If you love something set it free…or on fire.
Nourish your body and kindle your transformational fire–emotionally and physically. Healthy cleansing is a great way to merge with the full moon energies. Vatas, watch the length of your cleansing times…less is more for you.
Connect with Mother Nature as often as possible.
Be well. Stay wild. Love hard. Rock on.
