Here in the Northern Hemisphere, the Fall Equinox delivers to us the brilliant opportunity to slow it all down, take pause and sync up to the dynamically shifting harvest rhythms. This is the time to move “inward”. In the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the opposite…to flourish and blossom “outward” using the energy, light, and warmth of the sun.
When we tune up to nature’s outward expressions that are also happening simultaneously within our mind-body systems, it makes for a much smoother change of pace–avoiding internal setbacks, imbalances, and stagnations.
The energies associated with Vata; movement, change, and instability are currently moving into high swirl mode. If you have a predominance of Vata or are experiencing a Vata imbalance, this is the time to be attentive to the progressive external and internal shifts that are alive and happening right now. Just as the leaves are crisping up and shedding to the cooler temperatures, our internal systems are becoming thirsty for lubrication, warmth, and grounded flow.
Establishing and enforcing a nourishing daily routine not only brings more meaning to life, but is the key for ALL dosha combinations to acquiesce to the beauty of this season’s spontaneous unpredictability.

Create and commit to a grounding routine. Don’t blow away with the winds of change–emotionally & physically! Stay present and grounded to ensure that you are able to listen and nourish the needs of your mind-body physiology. If you are feeling dry, swirly, and irregular, now is the time to anchor down, hydrate, and oil up–internally and externally. Incorporate the many gifts that come with active stillness while adding the “weight” of oils to your diet, hair, skin, and nails.

Don’t let the seasonal movement blow wind onto your healthy fire! Remind yourself: “less fire, more light! Create your soothing routine–mindfulness, non-competitive exercise, and avoid biting off more than you can chew. Stay cool, calm, and collective–emotionally & physically!
Predominance of KAPHA
Meditate & Energize
Shake up your routine and keep it light–physically and emotionally. Connect to the skip in your step and dance–literally–to the movement of autumn. Avoid collective stagnation by letting in what’s nourishing and releasing what’s not. Keep moving forward. Your meditation practice will revive & rejuvenate.
